If you are not already hooked on Marvel’s new TV show on
Disney+ WandaVision then this week’s episode will certainly have you hook,
line, and sinker. This week’s show is titled ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’ and in
some ways it breaks more walls then that. The show hits the 2000s and Modern
Family seems to be the theme with some splashes of other sitcoms from the
2000s. I really enjoyed the commentary that Wanda and Vision have when they are talking to the camera. The glances and the 'knowing stare' from Vision are completely spot on.
Like the other episodes, this one is jam-packed with
information so you need to make sure you are paying attention. Wanda is slowly
but surely losing control of the Hex. The kids are noticing this and want to
help but Wanda just thinks relaxing will help (not likely).
In the reality part of the show, we discover that Hayward is
trying to get Vision back so he can use him as a weapon (no surprise there).
Monica and Jimmy meet with her friend (sorry pals it’s not Fantastic 4) and
tries to find a way in to the Hex to help Wanda. She does and we get to see a touch
of her brief history so far in this universe (a lot of Captain Marvel quotes)
and what the future has in store for Monica.
There are quite a few big things that are being brought from
the Marvel universe into this show. Two of them are big spoilers so we will
talk about them in the next episode. For this one, it’s not a huge spoiler to
talk about the commercial. The anti-depressant pill being advertised is called
Nexus. This is a nod to the Marvel universe that deals with multiple realities.
It’s been hinted quite a bit that this phase of the Marvel cinema universe is
going to play into the multiple realities and this show seems to be setting it
up (there is a Dr. Strange 2 coming and Spider-man 3 is highly suspected to
deal with the multi-verse). Could this be foreshadowing? Especially considering
the ending, I think it’s highly likely.
There is a big surprise ending and when it’s all tied
together, many of you I am sure are going to be happy because you had figured
out the puzzle way beforehand. It’s rumored that the next two episodes will be
longer but I am sure it’s going to be action packed. This would be the part of the
movie where everything comes together and the good guys come up with a plan to
take out the bad guys. AVENGERS ASSEMBLE!
Just a warning, there is a post credit scene and of course, it
does not disappoint.
What did you think of the show?
