Things are starting to escalate beyond control in this week's episode of Wandavision 'All New Halloween Spooktacular'. We hit the 90's and it looks like Malcom in the Middle influenced the introduction. Everything seems to be as had been in the past, but we quickly see that there is tension between Vision and Wanda.
Let's take a moment to look at the costumes. With it being Halloween, we get to see the characters in their costumes from the comic books. There are so many other Easter eggs that are spread throughout the episode. The other one that I found the most interesting is the movies that are playing in town. As seen below, The Incredibles and Parent Trap. Both movies are fitting, because Wanda's family is a family of heroes and she and Vision are essentially trapped where they are.
Back to the show.
Hayward is continuing to try and figure out how to take out Wanda (so once again a man tears down the company that a woman has built). Monica questions everything he is doing because she has sense to know that Wanda is just grieving and killing may cause more problems then solutions. Hayward doesn't stand for this so he sends Monica, Jimmy, and Darcy away. Don't worry, they don't go quietly. They sneak back in and see that Hayward is not really focused on Wanda, but on Vision. Obviously, he wants Vision because he is a weapon and Hayward probably wants to use Vision for nefarious reasons.
Inside the Hex, Vision deceives Wanda so that he can investigate the town. He runs into Agnes and he breaks her control. She reveals to Vision that he was an Avenger and is dead (both of which he didn't know). This causes Vision to try and break through the Hex which causes him to almost die.
To save Vision, she extends the Hex and traps 95% of Hayward's people and Darcy. Hayward escaped but considering he lost his whole team, he is going to have to work with Monica and Jimmy if he wants any way of taking down Wanda. And since Wanda has added probably around 100 more people, it's going to be harder for her to control them.
We do get to see them address the re-cast of Pietro. Pietro explains it to being that it was too painful for her to see her real brother (this could make sense if she brought him back). My favorite part is when they make a reference of how he is 'Kick-Ass'. For those of you who don't remember, Aaron Taylor was the character Kick-Ass in the movie (which is a different superhero movie. Coincidence. I don't think so). This version of Pietro plays a bit of devil's advocate with Wanda's plan in this Hex, questioning her and forcing her to rethink the decisions that she has made. Is he playing her conscious or could he having his own agenda?
The show had a lot of details and a lot of little things that I am sure I have missed on first viewing. The show will be ending in 3 episodes so you know things are going to escalate quickly and all bets are off in what will happen.
What did you think of the show?
