Sam and Bucky begin to move on from their friend in 'The Falcon and Winter Soldier' premiere

The next Marvel show is upon us. Sam Wilson, The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) and Bucky Barnes, Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan) are returning to their roles in this 6-episode season. The show is taking over the amazing start to the Marvel shows from WandaVision that exceeded fans expectations. The bar has been set high for this season and time will tell if they are able to meet that bar.

At the beginning of the episode, Sam is struggling with the responsibility of holding the shield, still believing that he is not 'worthy'. He ends up donating it to the museum dedicated to Captain America. Obviously this is a short-term loan as we see him later on with the shield, so no need to get to worried.

The opening action sequence has Sam introducing a new character, Joaquin Torres (Danny Ramirez, On my Block). Like with WandaVision you can tell that the graphics will not be on the level that we have seen in the movies. But considering that the budget is not as high as a movie, the show met my expectations for the CGI side.

The first look we get at Bucky is him trying to deal with the missions of his past. But there is one that is particularly haunting for him. When you find out the truth of his step for acceptance, Stan once again makes you want to just comfort him. He has been able to make you hate him one second and love him with the same intensity as you had when you hated him.

Sam works for the government still but is trying to help his sister and two nephews with her life. We learn that the show is taking place five months after they returned from The Blip. This kind of lines up with WandaVision's line. Perhaps we may see references or a connection? Perhaps nothing at all.
If you have been on the internet at all over the last few days, you probably are already aware of what the ending is for the show. It is a bit of a cliffhanger but if you know Sam at all, you know that this is only going to light a fire under him to maybe get that shield back?

We get a first look at the Flag-Smashers and he is not going to be an easy person to take down. Again, this villain has been announced but I will not state his name here in case there is someone who doesn't know. The other great scene is the scene honoring Steve Rogers. It's reminiscent of the same kind of scene we saw in The Avengers. There are a lot of Easter eggs that you can take a closer look at if you want to. Most of it are just nods to every movie that Rogers was in.

Just a quick comic book rundown of the new characters. Torres becomes the new Falcon when (possible spoiler alert) in the comic books, Sam takes over as Captain America. John Walker (Wyatt Russell, 22 Jump Street and Black Mirror) is a new character and is going to be a complication for Sam. The US Government tries to use him as a symbol for America in the new life they are living. Walker has a long and complicated history in the comic book and he is a character that has a rollercoaster ride which include many different names.

What did you think of the show?

Wanda is struggling to keep control in episode 7 of 'WandaVision'

If you are not already hooked on Marvel’s new TV show on Disney+ WandaVision then this week’s episode will certainly have you hook, line, and sinker. This week’s show is titled ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’ and in some ways it breaks more walls then that. The show hits the 2000s and Modern Family seems to be the theme with some splashes of other sitcoms from the 2000s. I really enjoyed the commentary that Wanda and Vision have when they are talking to the camera. The glances and the 'knowing stare' from Vision are completely spot on.  Like the other episodes, this one is jam-packed with information so you need to make sure you are paying attention. Wanda is slowly but surely losing control of the Hex. The kids are noticing this and want to help but Wanda just thinks relaxing will help (not likely). In the reality part of the show, we discover that Hayward is trying to get Vision back so he can use him as a weapon (no surprise there). Monica and Jimmy meet with her friend (...

Review: 'Dominik' by Sawyer Bennett - Can Dominik tame Willow's wild heart?

In the 6th book of the series, Dominik takes the lead as he tries to get Willow out of his thoughts, but that proves more difficult the more time he spends with her. Willow doesn't want to tie herself down to this man, but the more she fights, the harder she falls. When you do book series like this, it's hard to like every single one. Especially when you unintentionally compare the books with one another. I had a hard time liking the relationship with Dominik and Willow. Perhaps its that we didn't really get to see the beginning (you hear about it in other books) or maybe I just didn't like the way that they are together. It just didn't tickle my fancy. They didn't have that 'it' factor that separates the story from others. I did enjoy the cat and mouse game that Willow was playing with Dominik. That part was entertaining. See a man of Dominik stature get frustrated and make moves that I am sure are out of his character. But even that got old aft...

'Sinful King' by Claire Contreras is now available

The Sinful King, a new, sexy, 100% stand-alone novel by New York Times bestselling author, Claire Contreras, is LIVE! If you had any ties to Marbella, it was impossible for you not to have heard the stories about Prince Elias and his debauchery. Every summer he arrived with his security detail and friends in tow and rented out a row of cottages near the water. Cottages that belonged to my family. Each of those summers, my parents sent me away – summer camp and later, boarding school. Anything to keep me away from the royals and their partying. I hadn’t been home in years, but when I finally come back for the summer, I see that not much has changed. Like all the summers I’d been gone, Prince Elias is back, but this time with an incognito security detail and no friends. This time, there is no partying, no noise, no crowds. No reason at all to even think he was there. I’m given strict orders not to talk to him, not to even look in his direction, but he makes t...
