Review - 'A Lie for a Lie' by Helena Hunting

In the first book of the series, we return to the Pucked world that Hunting first brought us to. Rook is going to Alaska for a vacation and meets the girl of his dream. But she probably is because she doesn't recognize him. Flash forward a year later, she learn who he really is and problems ensue. There is a scene in this story that annoyed me to the point where I had to pause it to regroup before I could continue. There is a part where Rook accuses Lanie of something and she just forgives him with the snap of his fingers. It annoyed me because it was a pretty big accusation and she didn't even stay mad at him. It even prevented me from giving it 5 stars because of it. If you take that scene out, I would have loved the story. I liked the back and forth between the characters and it was a good ole fashioned love story. You know that kind of love story that makes you feel all warm inside and gives you cavities because of how sweet that they are. Also, I really liked the f...

Rant Fest – When female leads and their quick forgiving ways

Welcome to a new topic. It's called Rant Fest. When I post  these,  it will be me just ranting about something that is bugging me and why it’s bugging me. It will usually be about things that I  like but  get annoyed with something about it. Like the first topic on hand. I enjoy reading  contemporary romance novels. And no, not the ones with the shirtless man holding a model- esque  girl with a cowboy hat on. I’m talking about the hot shirtless man without the cowboy hat on =)   Anyways.     My rant begins with this book that I am reading. I won’t mention it because it’s not the story’s fault that is making me write it. It’s something that I have noticed in the last few books that I have read that are similar in plot lines. First, there are like 5 stories that these authors write just in different versions.  I  also  don’t want to name the book because my rant has to do with a major plot point. ...

Marvel Rewatch - Iron Man

Starring :  Robert Downey Jr,  Gwenyth  Paltrow,  Jeff Bridges, Terrence Howard   Year Released : 20 08   Year in Timeline:   2008   Key Elements :  Introduction to Iron Man, SHIELD, “Avenger Initiative”   Here is the movie that set the world on fire for the Marvel universe. This was the first move that was released, and all the pressure was on RDJs shoulders. This was a big deal considering that RDJ was still looking to clean up his reputation after he finished  cleaning up from drugs and leaving prison. This movie also showed how amazing of a director that Jon Favreau. He set the standard for the fu ture Marvel films and set the stage.   This movie made everyone fall back in love with RDJ because he knocked it out of the park. There are few characters that get spot on casting and this  definitely is  one. He can capture that snarky, arrogant side of Tony Stark while being vulnerable...

JB Salsbury's latest book 'Face the Music' is now available on Kindle Unlimited

Pastor Ben Langley is irresistible. His wife died giving birth to their daughter six years ago. His tragic past doesn’t keep me from wanting to unravel him, strip away his buttoned up goodness and discover what kind of man lies beneath.  If that makes me evil, so be it. I’m far beyond redemption anyway. Ashleigh Kendrick is freedom personified, an unpredictable wind I want to grasp hold of. Every Sunday she watches me preach from the front row wearing her halter-tops and tiny skirts, a dangerous temptation. Her favorite words are the four-letter variety, and her smile lights up the darkness inside me. I vowed to love one woman forever. I never realized that vow would be impossible to keep when confronted with a chance to love again. Face the Music is an opposites attract romance with emotional ties to the past that run so thick they feel impossible to overcome.    Amazon US:  https://amzn.to/2ZG8Jf9 Amazon UK:  https://amzn.t...

Marvel Rewatch - Captain Marvel

Starring : Brie Larson, Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Annette Bening, Lashana Lynch    Year Released : 2019   Year in Timeline:  1990s   Key Elements : Captain Marvel (the final Avenger), Tesseract (2 nd  appearance.), The Avengers       While this was the last solo movie released before the final Avengers movie, it is set way back towards the beginning of the Marvel timeline.  So  while it may not be a big deal when you see certain people if you watch the movies in order of timeline, it was a HUGE deal when watching them in cinematic release.   For example, Coulson makes an appearance in this story and I swear it was like he was resurrected from the dead.   In a lot of ways  Vers  reminds me of RDJ in Iron Man (may explain why I like this character so much). She is confident, sarcastic, quick-witted, but while many be put off by their arrogance, they would do  anythi...
