'The New Mutants' - a fantastical disappointment

The New Mutants (2020) Full HD Movie (Download) | by kazu karlos | Medium

This is the first movie that Marvel is a part of since Disney purchased 20th Century Fox, movie side. It takes place in the X-Men world and it follows Danielle Moonstar (Blu Hut, CW's The Originals) as she goes to a clinic to try and figure out what her power is and learn how to control it.

To be fair to this movie, I hadn't watched a trailer recently or read anything about before going in. I was expecting it to be a superhero movie (ie action, fighting, a wee bit of drama, and probably some romance since it is a teenager movie) and while those things are in there, I didn't expect the horror side to it. No, it's not the slasher type of horror, but there are characters that may still give you nightmares (ie the smiley face man).

The story does seem to have a chance to be expanded in more of the universe but I am not sure that fans will be as interested in it.

The graphics are what I call fantastical. They were pretty good and realistic but it felt a bit of a stretch for the X-Men world that we have come to know and love. Also, the powers for a few of the mutants felt a bit of a stretch as well. The mutants that we have come to know are I guess more realistic. For me, it was just a bit too far-fetched for me to enjoy it. The story line itself was decent. And I did like the characters and their backstories.

The movie stars Blu Hunt, Maisie Williams, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Heaton, Alice Braga, and Henry Zaga and is out in theaters now.

Wanda is struggling to keep control in episode 7 of 'WandaVision'

If you are not already hooked on Marvel’s new TV show on Disney+ WandaVision then this week’s episode will certainly have you hook, line, and sinker. This week’s show is titled ‘Breaking the Fourth Wall’ and in some ways it breaks more walls then that. The show hits the 2000s and Modern Family seems to be the theme with some splashes of other sitcoms from the 2000s. I really enjoyed the commentary that Wanda and Vision have when they are talking to the camera. The glances and the 'knowing stare' from Vision are completely spot on.  Like the other episodes, this one is jam-packed with information so you need to make sure you are paying attention. Wanda is slowly but surely losing control of the Hex. The kids are noticing this and want to help but Wanda just thinks relaxing will help (not likely). In the reality part of the show, we discover that Hayward is trying to get Vision back so he can use him as a weapon (no surprise there). Monica and Jimmy meet with her friend (...

Saint and Piper made one of the worst mistakes you could make in their world and now Saint has to pray that mistake won’t be deadly.  The two of them got so lost in the idea of moving through their past together that they missed the worst betrayal in the depths of their clubhouse. This loss of focus now puts Piper in the hands of a twisted nemesis, and The Devil’s Dust Motorcycle Club is not just falling apart because of it, it’s losing members faster than t...

Review: 'Dominik' by Sawyer Bennett - Can Dominik tame Willow's wild heart?

In the 6th book of the series, Dominik takes the lead as he tries to get Willow out of his thoughts, but that proves more difficult the more time he spends with her. Willow doesn't want to tie herself down to this man, but the more she fights, the harder she falls. When you do book series like this, it's hard to like every single one. Especially when you unintentionally compare the books with one another. I had a hard time liking the relationship with Dominik and Willow. Perhaps its that we didn't really get to see the beginning (you hear about it in other books) or maybe I just didn't like the way that they are together. It just didn't tickle my fancy. They didn't have that 'it' factor that separates the story from others. I did enjoy the cat and mouse game that Willow was playing with Dominik. That part was entertaining. See a man of Dominik stature get frustrated and make moves that I am sure are out of his character. But even that got old aft...
